About Me…

Hello, I’m Hannah – a Funeral Celebrant in North Yorkshire & County Durham.
My journey to becoming a celebrant began after one of the most difficult moments of my life, my mum’s funeral. It was the first time I had experienced a civil celebrant, and I remember how personal, heartfelt, and comforting the ceremony felt. He spoke about Mum as she truly was , with warmth, humour, and honesty. The service made us cry, of course, but it also made us smile and laugh as we remembered her stories and her spirit. That service brought us comfort in a way I hadn’t known was possible.
It was then I understood how powerful a well-crafted ceremony can be, one that celebrates the life lived, honours the person they were, and gives families something beautiful to hold onto.
Mum used to say, “The last thing you can do for someone is to make sure they go with dignity.”
Those words have stayed with me, and they guide everything I do. Ensuring every ceremony is handled with care, respect, and dignity isn’t just part of my work, it’s a promise.
My connection to the military has been an important part of my life, both as an Army Reservist for over 32 years and as the wife of a serving Army Officer. Those experiences have taught me the true meaning of service, loyalty, and compassion, and the importance of standing alongside others during life’s most significant moments.
They’ve shaped how I approach every family I work with; with calm, respect, and the quiet strength to help you honour your loved one with dignity and care.
Whether I’m creating a funeral ceremony, helping someone plan their service in advance, or writing a heartfelt tribute, my aim is always the same – to mark the end every life, every story, and treat every farewell…
